The state of nature was inherently unstable. Individuals would be under contrast threat of physical harm. And they would be unable to pursue any goals that required stability and widespread cooperation with other humans. Locke’s claim is that government arose in this context. Individuals, seeing the benefits which could be gained, decided to relinquish some of their rights to a central authority while retaining other rights. This took the form of a contract. In agreement for relinquishing certain rights, individuals would receive protection from physical harm, security for their possessions, and the ability to interact and cooperate with other humans in a stable environment.

Compared to much of the planet, Caribbean people live in relative harmony with the outside world. They are not engaged in warfare (except for those migrants who have joined foreign military organizations). Also, in most Caribbean countries, because of a common culture and heritage, ethnic divisions are not significant. The exceptions are Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, where ethnicity has played a major role. During the colonial days and since independence, ethnic divisions between people of Indian descent and those of African descent have helped to shape the political discourse. This is an area of a potential hazard in the Caribbean. It will take political maturity from the leaders and increased education for the populace to address these important issues.

First, one should explain what is globalization. Then about rural society its structure, nature and importance in India. Moving on, there are many aspects where the impact of globalization is profound.

Nepotism is also being widely practiced. Congress party is the progenitor of Nepotism. The highly touted youth brigade comprises mostly of sons and nephews of political leaders. Also, near and dear ones of leaders have become rich in almost no time.

Progressive legislation have brought major changes in social outlook since independence. Sati prohibition, widow remarriage, child marriage prohibition – once frowned upon- has emerged as high values one looks up to. The decade of 95s and thereafter saw its share of progressive legislation as well.

The answer is a big “No”. Had this been the case, the world would have been cleansed of all crimes. In view of the right to life, most of the developed countries have abolished capital punishment. It’s the most barbaric form of punishment which can be given by a liberal civilized government.

These ills of democracy are the genesis of the social movement and revolution. People adopted different methods to fight against the state. It was realized that these are the only way to negotiate with the government.

Thus, technical institutes, often in foreign collaboration, like IITs and IISC were set up. Space and nuclear research was taken up. Agricultural universities and research centers were established, keeping in mind our largely agrarian economy. Liberal education was promoted by exploring new subjects like sociology, which threw policy data useful for policy making.

Its adaptability has always distinguished the Mafia. Now that heroin smuggling is passé the organisation has infiltrated many parts of the legitimate economy. This is more than mere money laundering. Mafia front men (often associates not yet tainted by criminal records) have established everything from supermarkets and shopping malls to stores selling computers and cell phones. These businesses - a source of revenue in themselves - feed the Mafia. So do betting parlors and bingo salons.
