There is no automatic funding upon admission with the PhD program at EDST.
While there is no automatic funding, there are a number of funding opportunities available to PhD students:

Please see the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website:

Applicants from outside Canada should be aware of additional requirements that may apply. Please read the following to determine which of these requirements may apply to you.

Note: If you would like an exception to any of these specifications, please contact the Thesis Section well in advance of your final submission to determine whether or not this is acceptable.

Doctoral students are expected to apply for and obtain their own additional funding. Our faculty are very supportive in this regard, and are able to help their supervised students build their applications, as well as supporting them by writing letters of appraisal.

Beyond these courses, we expect our PhD students to attend advanced courses deepening their expertise in their chosen field of research.  We also expect them to hone their advanced methods skills with guidance from their supervisors.

It is also recommended that students take at least 6 of the 8 foundation courses (RMES 557, RMES 565 or RMES 555).  The supervisory committee may assign other courses.
